As a filmmaker, I tell stories through various digital narratives, including short films and web series. This unique perspective allows my work to be seen around the world on the Internet via Vimeo and Youtube. In filmmaking and television production, we use digital cameras, digital voice recorders and non-linear editing equipment.

Story telling in digital is a must across the board. Digital cannot be used as the answer. It's merely a tool like any other medium in our business. The future of digital marketing relies on cross pollination of the story telling and the tech guru.

Bazillion Pictures
www.bazillionpictures.com/
As an animation company, digital storytelling is at the core of absolutely everything we do. For 18 years we have relied on digital storytelling using a wide variety of techniques. One of our greatest loves is character animation and we have been fortunate to have created multiple characters over the years all with story driving the 'digital' heartbeat of each and every one of them.

I started my career as an illustrator before it was necessary to mention that I used “traditional media,” when creating my paintings and drawings for advertisements, story books and magazines, including pictures of the Pleasant Company's American Girls Samantha series.
Finding I enjoyed using computers to do my work more that canvas and brush, I became a full time CG artist twenty years ago, producing work for commercial, educational, industrial and entertainment projects. I was one of the artists who worked to create the computer game Riven, the Sequel to Myst in 1997.

Hallmark Cards, Inc.
http://www.hallmark.com/online/asteroid-andy/
I created an animated character property called Asteroid Andy for Hallmark. They are little animated shorts that feature children doing a mix of ad-lib and scripted dialogue. The property tries to engage kids on their level with as much humor and interactivity as I can provide. I play on themes kids are familiar with like frustration and weirdness of "first time" experiences.

Liquid 9

At Liquid 9 we don't tell digital stories. We tell stories. That's it. Sometimes it's using digital tools, sometimes it's old-fashioned conversations and the spoken word. Regardless, we have always felt strongly that if you focus on "digital" you are a new technology away from being irrelevant. If you focus on the storytelling, you can create art expressing central truths regardless of the medium.

Since we are a video production, company, we have been digital storytellers since the beginning. In the 90's, we referred to ourselves in promotional material and company descriptions as "video storytellers". Since 2005, we have described what we do on our website and other descriptive materials as "visual storytellers". Since what we do is combine an array of digital elements to tell a story -- whether that is video, photography, graphics, animation, music, narration, etc. -- we are now referring to our services as digital storytelling.
