Bridgette tells Neelam that while the local stations have most of the facts right, the fear they are spreading, in terms of fertility, exposure and what the radiation numbers could mean, is completely wrong.
“I heard from one of our doctors that right now, unless you are inside the plant, there is no threat to fertility,” the nurse continues to explain to Neelam. “Talk to Dr. Tomic, if you want to know more. He’s the nuclear liaison for the hospital. I have to make my rounds, but I’ll be back later.”
Now the only things keeping Neelam company while she waits for her mother to emerge from surgery are the local news on the monitor in the waiting room and her phone, of course.
