Alex Remington’s fellowship project

The Washington Post will study how news organizations can display and package news stories, specifically on mobile devices, in a more memorable and comprehensible way. Alex Remington, product manager of The Washington Post, will serve as the project leader for the institutional fellowship.

Through the fellowship, the news organization will be seeking answers to two questions: Do readers remember what they’ve read, and did they understand the meaning (semantically and analytically)?

Specifically, The Washington Post wants insight into how long after reading a piece does a person still remember it. (One week? One day? One hour?) The team is also curious to learn how much the reader remembers and whether they remember the meaning of the story or just the subject.
