RJI webinar: Learn how to host a community journalism training to keep local journalism thriving

Do you want to have a hand in training and inspiring the next generation of journalists in your local community?

In a free public webinar from the Reynolds Journalism Institute on Tuesday, July 29, at 11:30 a.m. Central, learn from Chicago’s Windy City Times and E3 Radio, who partnered to host a five-week community journalism seminar earlier this year. The seminar was open to early-career journalists, college students and anyone interested in the field and can serve as a model for helping to build a strong foundation for the future of community journalism.

Join the webinar to hear leaders from these groundbreaking news organizations discuss practical tips and lessons learned in hosting the program, which featured guest lecturers, a field trip to a local newsroom and a finished piece of journalism from each participant.

Moderated by RJI Innovation in Focus Editor Emily Lytle, the webinar will also spotlight resources from Earn Your Press Pass, a program designed to teach the fundamentals of news reporting to those without extensive experience.

No community can afford to lose its local news coverage, and equipping people with different lived experiences to participate in local journalism will only make that coverage stronger. Help secure the future of your news ecosystem with trainings that engage, educate and empower the reporters of the future. To register for the webinar, click here.
