In a normal week many of us might work from home for a day or an afternoon or an evening. But this was not a normal week, nor will be next week or the week after.

For the third year, Missouri School of Journalism students spent one week of their winter break working alongside veteran journalists in small, community newspapers around Missouri as part of RJI’s Pottter Digital Ambassador program.

During the past three years, about 20 Missouri newspapers have benefited from one-on-one help learning and honing various digital skills such as shooting mobile video or engaging with audiences on social media as part of the Potter Ambassador Program.

A web-based tool known as Deeptector.io, which harnesses artificial intelligence to detect synthetic or deepfake videos and images made with AI, won the 2019-20 RJI student innovation competition and a $10,000 prize.
